A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck about 10 kilometers northeast of Coso Junction in Inyo County early Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:33 a.m. PT and was centered roughly 3 kilometers below the surface.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been reported. The Coso Junction area sits in a geothermally active region of the Mojave Desert, where small earthquakes are not uncommon.
