A magnitude 3.0 earthquake rattled the Johannesburg area in Kern County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake struck at 1:44 p.m. PT and was centered about 17 kilometers west-southwest of Johannesburg at a depth of 7 kilometers.
