MAGNITUDE 2.9 QUAKE HITS NEAR SOUTH LAKE TAHOE

A magnitude 2.9 earthquake struck about 10 kilometers west-southwest of South Lake Tahoe late Wednesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake hit at 11:58 p.m. PT and was centered roughly 7 kilometers deep.
