What We Know So Far

The NWS San Diego office issued the Wind Advisory Thursday afternoon, covering San Diego County. Details on exact wind speeds haven't been confirmed in early reports, but the advisory signals conditions strong enough to make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and potentially dangerous for anyone spending time outside.

The broader region is also dealing with wind threats: a separate high wind watch has been issued for the 5 Freeway corridor north of Los Angeles, covering Thursday and Friday, per early reports out of Orange County.

What You Should Do

Until 5 a.m. Friday, be careful on the roads, especially if you're driving a truck, SUV, or anything that catches wind. Secure patio furniture, trash cans, and anything else that could become a projectile. Power outages are always possible during high-wind events, so it's smart to have a flashlight handy.

Monitor the NWS San Diego page for any upgrades to the advisory or changes to the timeline. This is a developing situation.
