CALWIRE.org — the news site

This one. CALWIRE is a California-focused news aggregator and wire-style news site, built in the tradition of the Drudge Report but rebuilt for how people actually read news in 2026: a live police and fire scanner feed, real-time California traffic camera access, continuously-updating breaking-news coverage, and a real Staff Reporting desk publishing original features and explainers. It covers both California-specific news and full national and world wire coverage, so it works as a standalone daily news homepage, not just a regional add-on.

Calwire Inc. — the machine shop

If you searched "Calwire" looking for precision CNC machining, Swiss-screw parts, or a manufacturer serving the medical, dental, or aerospace industries, you're thinking of Calwire Inc., a family-owned precision machine shop based in Aliso Viejo, California, operating since 1984. It's a completely separate, unrelated business with no connection to this website beyond sharing a similar name. If that's what you were after, this isn't the right site, and no offense taken; head back to your search results.

Why the confusion happens

Both organizations independently landed on a name built around "California" and "wire," for reasons specific to their own industries: a manufacturer that works with wire and precision metal components, and a news site built around the idea of a fast-moving wire service for California. Neither borrowed the name from the other. It's a coincidence of two businesses in very different industries reaching for the same short, obvious combination of words.

The short version

Need California and national breaking news, a live scanner, real-time traffic, and original reporting? You're in the right place. Need precision CNC-machined parts from a shop that's been doing it since the 1980s? You're looking for Calwire Inc. in Aliso Viejo, a different company entirely.
