Los Angeles Fire Department responded early Tuesday to a traffic collision on northbound Interstate 5 near downtown that required extrication efforts. The crash was reported at 2:17 a.m. near the 1280 block of NB 5 Road.

LAFD crews arrived to find a multi-vehicle incident. The nature and extent of injuries, the number of vehicles involved, and details about what triggered the collision remain unclear at this early stage. Extrication operations were launched, suggesting at least one person was trapped.
The northbound 5 corridor in this stretch is a major commuter artery through Los Angeles. The full scope of traffic impact has not yet been determined.
