A magnitude 2.8 earthquake rattled the area southeast of Bodie late Tuesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor struck at 7:51 p.m. PT and was centered approximately 32 kilometers southeast of the remote Mono County town, at a depth of 16 kilometers.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been reported in the sparsely populated region. The quake was relatively shallow for the area but modest in magnitude.
