A magnitude 2.6 earthquake hit 28 kilometers west-northwest of Weaverville in Trinity County early Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake occurred at 8:59 a.m. PT and was centered approximately 28 kilometers below the surface.
